2019 World Championships: Day 1 & Crowdfunding Rally!

December 3rd, 2019

Today was the first day of the 2019 World Championships here in Auckland, New Zealand. Unfortunately, because of a strong front, racing was cancelled for the FX fleet and the Nacra fleet. However, the 49er fleet finished 2 races in the late afternoon/evening!

Right now, it looks like there will be decent breeze for Day 2, so we should get some racing off. Just have to wait a little longer! We will be in blue fleet on course I (Milford) at 11am NZDT, so 5pm EST.

In other news…

As of this morning, we have launched our first GoFund Me as a team! What many people do not realize is that American athletes must fund their own training and competition on the long, challenging path to the Olympics. The costs to run a successful Olympic Sailing campaign add up to well over $100,000 and this requires a whole community of supporters to help us get there. Although that is a big scary number, we are looking to raise a small portion of that total and we need your help!

Our goal here is to raise $15,000 for our final Olympic Trials event which is our 2020 World Championships in Geelong, Australia in February. Your donation is fully tax deductible and you will receive a 501(c)3 receipt from the Sailing Foundation of New York.

With your help, we will be ready. The money we raise will go directly towards:

Accommodation: Flights: Coaching: Entry Fee:
$3000 $3600 $7500 $750
Total: $14,850

Please click HERE to donate via our GoFund Me page.

Are There Other Ways To Help?

Share, Share, Share!

To anyone that has already donated to our campaign we want to say THANK YOU! It truly goes to show that a little bit from a lot of people can add up to significant help.

Never underestimate the power of teamwork.
